Portrait of Simone. Howard met Simone in Malta in 1966. She later came to London and these photographs were taken.

“Harpers & Queens magazine rang me up and said ‘We’d like you to take some photographs of some Maltesers’, and I thought I’m not shooting sweets! I went back later on and they had plane tickets and stuff and had been joking. They wanted me to go to Malta and shoot all the well to do people out there for a big feature. It was my first job abroad.”
